Natural Health: Yoga

Its origin is not totally known, but estimations talk about five thousand years. Physical and mental effectiveness has been proven scientifically. Yoga can be successfully used as therapy for people suffering from back pain, arthritis or rheumatism, as a means of promoting relaxation, normalizing blood pressure, helping to relieve anxiety and managing stress. Yoga helps with issues such as:

  • Stress and its consequences
  • Hypertension and circulatory disorders
  • Neck and back pain
  • Asthma and other chronic diseases
  • Digestive disorders - including irritable bowel syndrome
  • Fatigue and insomnia
  • Arthritis and Rheumatism
  • Anxiety and depression

Salud naturalYoga is accessible to all ages and any level of training and it is not competitive. There are many forms of traditional yoga, but in the CNI Durika we practice:

  • Hata Yoga. It is the form that emphasizes physical positions or postures (asanas) and breathing control techniques (pranayama).
  • Raja Yoga. It refers to meditation and it is based on the mental aspects of yoga, rather than physical asanas.
  • Astanga Yoga. It combines elements of the Hata and Raja Yoga . The basis of its practice involves the binding energy positions and postures (hatas) with a continuous movement while using the mind to influence respiratory control.

The asanas or postures have a pronounced effect on the body, which influences many levels, because the muscles are toned, the column returns to its natural alignment and it revitalizes internal organs.

Breathing and respiratory control is used as a bridge between body and mind. At first, the poses are a little hard to get, but this is also a process to redirect the flow between blood and lymph vessels, alternately filling and emptying. It produces a massage to internal organs.
